A British expat now residing in Dallas, Texas. I met my wife on the internet in the days when there was not much of an internet. Turned out well; I have a wonderful wife and we have been happily married since 1997. For all who said that was strange at the time [and maybe even feel it is an odd way to meet even now] I would simply say "Hey, after all those years we are still happy and still each other’s best friend". After working in pubs back in the old country I ended up in restaurant management once I arrived in the US. A few years ago I moved to the corporate office as a member of the training department and a year or so later transferred to the IT department.

Age creeps along and we all turn into something we would likely have yelled "no way" at in our youth. Pottering about in the yard is about as active as I get for the most part now. I do enjoy travel and especially enjoy cruising though I am not rich enough to indulge to the extent that I would like. I tend to be somewhat opinionated and many would say a little cynical at times and I have a tendency to share both my opinions and my experience and knowledge whether asked for or otherwise.

Still in its early days but already offering a varied and diverse set of websites and content The Grumpy Old Limey family of websites plans to continue to offer an expanding content base with a little of something for everyone. New content will be spread across all of our outlets so while a particular site may go days or even a few weeks without an update you can expect something new somewhere most days. Hall Of The Dragon Priests & Skyrim Modding

The fifth chapter of The Elder Scrolls, Skyrim was released 11/11/11 and in February 2012 the Creation Kit came along. I have never modded for any game but I figured I would try for Skyrim and thus was born the Hall Of The Dragon Priests. Only at Version 1.0 this is planned as a major project to add an epic Quest Line to an already epic game. Also available is Skyrim Stat Track, a stat utility for all the pack rats out there.

Hall Of The Dragon Priests

There are nine Dragon Priest masks to be had in vanilla Skyrim and it is a long undertaking to collect them all. The ninth, Nahkriin, is basically the reward for collecting the first eight and frankly it seems a little less than you might have expected, at least to me. The Hall of the Dragon Priests is an expansion and major Quest Line that will right that wrong. In its early stages the mod is planned as a long term project that will add significant content to vanilla Skyrim. The current version adds Necromancer's Refuge, a large Nordic Dungeon and the first of many in the quest to discover the Hall of the Dragon Priests and claim it's treasures.

Skyrim Stat Track

Skyrim Stat Track is not a mod as such; it is an Excel spreadsheet designed for pack rats and completionists [and I am very definately both]. It allows tracking of Equipment, Spells, Locations, Quests and so on in great detail and for multiple profiles.

Created by Matti Suuronen in the late 1960's the Futuro House or, as it is sometimes known, the "UFO House" remains an architectural icon to this day. Still the subject of ongoing research The Futuro House Project is a growing archive of all things Futuro.

Designed by Matti Suuronen in the late 1960's and intended as a prefabricated and easily transportable ski cabin the Futuro House is now instantly recognizable and, for those with the resources, a prized collectible. Though an exact number is not known it is thought that around 100 of the "UFO" houses were manufactured of which some 60 or so are thought to be still in existence. The Futuro House Project's goal is to relate and archive historical information about the Futuro House and also to track and identify the locations of the remaining Futuro Houses wherever they might be now. This is an ongoing research/archive project and very definitely a work in progress.

Strange, Weird, Wonderful & Cool Buildings

The world of architecture is full of strange, weird, cool and wonderful buildings. Some are old, some are incredibly old and some are ultra modern. Architecture, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. We all see something different but we all see something interesting. In fact architecture ought to be seen as an art form, the artistic output of the architect. This blog aims to chronicle many of the wonders of the world of architecture.

  • The striking and unique Kosovo National Library was built in 1982.
  • Nestled amongs the red baroque roofs of Graz is a stunning mix of architecture and new media.
  • The stunning and beautiful Lotus Temple is one of the most visited buildings in the world.
  • A rather ununsual home based on a radial design featuring five pods.
  • Located on picturesque Signal Mountain, TN the flying saucer House was built in 1970.

There are many websites with lists or photo lists of "strange buildings". Most, though not all, are simple lists with no additional information and in many cases the lists are identical. The Grumpy Old Limey does it a little differently with background information and history, location information and maps, videos and multiple photos providing context, detail and both exterior and interior perspectives. Not only that but the list of buildings included is not static, it is a growing resource for all that is strange, weird, cool and wonderful in the world of architecture. So stop by an check it out, you are sure to find something fascinating; and then stop by again in the future because when you come back there will be something new to discover.

The Blog

Got too many opinions for my own good and no one to listen to them so here we are! Plus random musings on the world through the eyes of a grumpy old limey, things that just plain interest me and a bit of actual knowledge here and there.

The Blog is home to just about anything we find interesting, amusing or bizarre. There are opinions, videos, photos, facts, information on a whole host of subjects. A collection of strange videos, some music videos, some comedy videos, epic fails, political opinions, opinions on society and how we interact with the world about us. Nothing is off limits and we are sure that there is something for everyone. It tends to develop in fits and starts, nothing crops up for a while and then we come across a bunch of things that trigger the "typing finger" all at once. Whatever you interests come back and see what's new every now and again because there is sure to something that will impact your day; if not something thought provoking something that will make you chuckle and a laugh is a pretty good cure, at least for a few moments, for many of the stresses that we all face each and every day.
